The day's cover: one painted scene made from today's pieces

The scene the art director wrote

A cityscape at dusk with a subtle glow of computer screens and streetlights, a diverse group of people in the foreground, some looking up at a large, abstract AI model in the sky, while others examine small, futuristic devices, amidst a backdrop of government buildings and tech company offices.

Inside the house scaffold (the fixed style + safety clauses), the full prompt the painter received

Sprawling painted editorial illustration for a newspaper front page: A cityscape at dusk with a subtle glow of computer screens and streetlights, a diverse group of people in the foreground, some looking up at a large, abstract AI model in the sky, while others examine small, futuristic devices, amidst a backdrop of government buildings and tech company offices. Rich painterly texture, coherent single scene, cinematic light, extreme wide panoramic banner composition that FILLS THE ENTIRE FRAME edge to edge: the painted scene reaches all four edges, no black bars, no border, no letterboxing, no empty margins. Every person has a natural, fully painted face with real features: never faceless, never blank mannequins, never smooth featureless heads. All people are fictional and resemble no real public figure. Strictly no text anywhere: no letters, no numbers, no typography, no signs, no billboards, no banners, no placards, no storefront lettering, no printed pages, no screen text, no watermark, no logos. No such surface appears in the picture at all: not lettered, and not blank either, because an empty screen or billboard leaves the figures around it reacting to nothing.

Polymarket odds that Bitcoin would reach $82,000 between Aug. 24 and Aug. 30 dropped from 57% to 34% on Aug. 28, a 23-point fall on $84,827 of volume.

The move was not isolated. Polymarket data shows crypto price markets across the board repriced sharply downward that day. The market on whether Bitcoin would close above $82,000 on Aug. 30 fell 17 points, from 32% to 14%, on $11,526 of volume. The market on whether Bitcoin would be above $80,000 on Aug. 28 dropped 23 points, from 63% to 40%, on $75,548 of volume. The Solana market - asking whether Solana would be above $110 on Aug. 28 - took the hardest fall among crypto contracts, down 36 points from 48% to 12% on $45,982 of volume.

By this paper's arithmetic, those four crypto contracts moved a combined $217,883 in volume on a single day of repricing.

Two contracts resolved the same day. The market on whether Bitcoin would reach $81,000 on Aug. 27 settled near 100% on $64,575 of volume. The market on whether Grêmio FBPA would win on Aug. 27 settled near 0% on $78,218 of volume.

Not everything moved against the grain. The market on Elon Musk posting 180 to 199 tweets between Aug. 21 and Aug. 28 climbed 16 points, from 72% to 88%, on $190,825 of volume - the largest single volume reading in this cluster. The read here is that bettors grew increasingly confident Musk would land in that specific range before the week closed.

The outlier in the set is the Trump NASA market. Odds that Trump would say the word "Nuclear" during remarks at NASA jumped 38 points, from 30% to 68%, on $13,045 of volume - the sharpest percentage move in the group, on the thinnest dollar volume. Whether that reflects new information about a scheduled appearance or pure sentiment shift, the facts do not say.
